How to get rid of fleas

You need to get your dog on a good flea product, Advantage, Advantix, Frontline - these all do the trick. Get on it, stay on it and you will never see another flea. After you get your dog on a product, put Seven Dust down in the yard - this will kill the fleas out there - do it the day before you're supposed to get rain so it washes off the grass next day. You also need to do a very thorough vacuuming, don't miss the corners, under beds, etc. Wash all your bedding and the dog's bedding. The products that I mentioned above though will take care of killing any flea that comes into contact with your dog and if you keep up with it and apply it every 30 days, you will never again have a problem.

Don't know if Seven Dust is the same as Sevin Dust we have up here in Canada, but if it is I wouldn't dust my yard with it. It can be pretty toxic and should only be used under controlled circumstances. When you dust your yard you are affecting much more than just fleas. A safer alternative is to buy a sprayer that goes on your hose, add Ivory liquid, set the dial, and spray your yard with that. Or dust with Diacetameous Earth (food grade - be sure and wear a mask) and vacuum, vacuum, vacuum - fleas have something like a 30 day cycle so they will keep hatching until you get rid of all of them. Wash all bedding and vacuum couches etc. at least once a week for a while after putting on Advantage (if that is what you are going to use).

Use a spot on product. I use biospot and it works very well.
